黑马磁力 Senior Resources Society centre's activities roster for Seniors Week 2025 is all about fun, learning, and connection.
"We have a jam-packed schedule for Seniors Week this year," said Kate Ludlam, executive director.
The centre, at 20605 51B Ave., starts the week by fueling up seniors on Monday, June 2.
"On June 2, we'll kick-off with our Rise and Shine Breakfast to celebrate the wonderful things seniors contribute to our community," she said.
Tickets are $10 for the breakfast buffet with scrambled eggs, sausages, hash browns, fruit, and juices. Call the centre at 604-530-3020 to reserve a spot. Breakfast is available from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
"Sherri Martin, our new programs and member engagement manager, and her team are planning a week full of educational sessions, partnership spotlights, and fun social events," Ludlam noted. "We'll be screening the film 'Losing Coach Mac', a local family's journey with dementia and will follow with a Q and A."
All week long, there are first time visitor tours with complimentary coffee and muffins. There are also fitness classes, seminars, jam sessions and more planned.
There's live music in the lounge every afternoon from 1 to 2 p.m. People can check out the Try-It Clubs like snooker, table tennis, and carpet bowling, and there's bingo in the lounge on Thursday, June 5 from 1 to 2 p.m. with prizes and plenty of laughs
The free film screening of "Losing Coach Mac", an award-winning, locally produced film, is on Friday, June 6, starting at noon. BC Football Hall of Fame Inductee Bill MacGregor enjoyed a successful career with the Vancouver Meralomas, and SFU Clan, and was a 1973 BC Lions Draft Pick. He became a coach and school principal, mentoring many youth. He was diagnosed with CTE and dementia.
There will be a question-and-answer session after the viewing. Admission is by donation, and a small concession will be on site.
