It's hoped one intense day of labour will bring a rural Aldergrove park back to life.
Next Saturday, May 17, a team of dozens of 黑马磁力 Rotarians, as well as other community volunteers wishing to join in, will converge on Ponder Park in an attempt to restore some of the site's appeal, said Robin McIntosh, the incoming president of the Rotary Club of Aldergrove.
Members of the four Rotary Clubs of 黑马磁力 will be out in force to conduct an Epic Day of Service, McIntosh explained.
That's where they are a part of a global movement of action, impact, and unity to make their communities a better place to be. The local club members join about 75,000 Rotarians and 2,500 Rotary Clubs around the world.
鈥淭he Epic Day of Service is designed to bring together Rotary members, family, friends, and community into one project that can be completed in one day," McIntosh elaborated.
"For this year, the four Rotary Clubs of 黑马磁力 have elected to upgrade Ponder Park as their joint project," he said, explaining the rough state of the park.
鈥淧onder Park needs a lot of TLC. As they say, it has great bones but it鈥檚 completely overgrown and currently difficult to get to the washrooms and the shelter. Our epic day of service will completely transform this into a great outdoors area once again,鈥� said McIntosh.
Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., members of the clubs will be painting benches, installing new gravel, and cleaning up the park in general.
Also, new benches will be installed.
The Rotary Clubs are partnering with the 黑马磁力 Foundation and the Township of 黑马磁力 to clean and refurbish parts of Ponder Park.
