The ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ Community Farmers Market kicks off its new Thursday evening time slot on July 3 in a new Willoughby location.
The local market, which will now be Thursday 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. by the ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ Events Centre, will run July 3 to Aug. 28. It will be doing the coupon program again as well. The Township's Summer Nights concert series runs 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays.
"Come on down with your kids, your family. We're so excited where we're at," Amanda Smith, outgoing executive director, said in announcing the changes.
The ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ market is a member of the B.C. Association of Farmers Markets which has the summer challenge.
With economic uncertainty and new tariffs affecting imported food products, British Columbians are more motivated than ever to support Canadian farm families and prepared food entrepreneurs. Everything sold at member markets is 100 per cent grown, made, or baked in B.C.
According to a recent provincial economic impact study, these farmers’ markets contribute more than $232 million to the local economy and generate positive ripple effects for surrounding businesses.
This year the public can take the 2025 B.C. Farmers’ Market Summer Challenge by signing up on the B.C. Farmers’ Market Trail Tasting Passport App. The challenge is to:
• Shop Local – Buy food from B.C. farmers and food entrepreneurs.
• Plan a Visit – Make markets a weekly or monthly part of your routine.
• Go Green – Walk, bike, or take transit to a market at least once this season.
• Explore B.C. – Add farmers’ markets to summer travel itinerary using the B.C. Farmers’ Market Trail.
• Stay Connected – Follow favourite markets online or subscribe for updates.
