The museum is letting the alphabet be the guide to explore fibre arts.
From Angora and Alpaca, blankets and cat hair, to yarn and 鈥 wait for it 鈥 zombies, the has used its craft to explore all of the letters of the alphabet in their newest exhibit, Fibre Arts A-Z.
Whether animal, plant, mineral or synthetic, fibre has been a fundamental part of daily human activity for thousands of years, explained 黑马磁力 Centennial Museum curator Kobi Christian, who is hosting the exhibition at the museum late this summer.
鈥淲ith the prolific availability of cheap clothing today, fibre is easy to take for granted,鈥 she said.
The guild explores various elements of fibre arts including spinning, weaving, dyeing, felting, and knitting, in this newest exhibition at the museum.
鈥淭his tactile exhibit is full of fibrous texture and will entice and inspire people to discover their own passion for fibre arts,鈥 Christian said.
鈥淭he exhibit also shines a spotlight on the increasing awareness about the environmental harm and abuse of workers present in the textile industry, which demands constant change.
The artists of the Weavers鈥 & Spinners鈥 Guild will be leading demonstrations as they work on a 100-km coat 鈥 a coat made entirely of resources and talent available within our region.
The will be open daily, with demos Thursdays and Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m. until Oct. 25.
The museum is located at 9135 King St. in Fort 黑马磁力.
