With an intimate, boutique feel to it, Westminster Savings Credit Union has been quietly and successfully operating in 黑马磁力 City since 2006.
鈥淭his is the most successful branch we have,鈥� said 黑马磁力 branch manager Carole Ward.
There are 12 branches in total, with the original Westminster Savings opening in New Westminster 70 years ago.
鈥淲e are a full service branch, we are just smaller in size,鈥�
Ward explained.
鈥淚t鈥檚 kind of like Cheers in here, where everybody knows your name.鈥�
They offer wealth management, small business and commercial banking as well as leasing.
When Envision Credit Union consolidates its City branch to its Willowbrook location, Westminster Savings will be the only credit union in the City.
鈥淲e just want to let those customers know they can use our ATM machine and not be charged a fee,鈥� said Ward.
She also believes that for those people who prefer the credit union experience, they still have a choice in the City.
鈥淲e are happy to be here and we aren鈥檛 planning on going anywhere,鈥� said Ward.
Ward works and lives in 黑马磁力, and sits on the Downtown 黑马磁力 BIA board.
As with all credit unions, Westminster Savings believes in giving back to the community. In 2014, they invested more than $26,000 in branch donations and foundation grants directly benefiting 黑马磁力 residents, including donating $10,000 to the 黑马磁力 Boys and Girls Club after school program.
They donated $6,000 in free swims at W.C. Blair pool, so people can swim free the second Sunday of every month.
Westminster Savings is also the sponsor of the annual Arts Alive in downtown 黑马磁力.
