Tourism 黑马磁力 gets $9,200 to grow online presence

From wineries, to the birthplace of B.C., to a Zoo and the horse capital, 黑马磁力 brings in tourists

Tourism 黑马磁力 will receive $9,200 for an online marketing campaign to help grow tourism in the region.

The funding comes from the government鈥檚 Community Tourism Opportunities (CTO) program. Tourism is one of the key economic sectors.  The strategy focuses on increasing the number of visitors by building on the global awareness generated by the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

鈥淚t鈥檚 no secret that tourism plays a vital role in driving B.C.鈥檚 economy and creates thousands of jobs here in 黑马磁力 and across the province,鈥 said 黑马磁力 MLA Mary Polak.

鈥淭ourism 黑马磁力鈥檚 programs ensure that visitors know about the natural beauty of our parks, our farm tours and activities that make 黑马磁力 an attractive destination to visit,鈥 she added.

鈥淔rom visiting Fort 黑马磁力, the birthplace of British Columbia, to touring one of 黑马磁力鈥檚 award-winning wineries, our community has a diverse range of experiences to offer visitors,鈥 Fort 黑马磁力-Aldergrove MLA Rich Coleman commented.

鈥淭his funding will help promote 黑马磁力 as a tourist destination [getting] more people to visit one of our many attractions.鈥

The CTO program is administered by the province鈥檚 six regional destination marketing organizations which receive the funding from the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation.

Both marketing and development projects are eligible under the program which reimburses communities following successful completion of their approved projects. Some examples of initiatives supported include print and broadcast advertising, event promotion, interpretative maps, tourist-related signage, online activities, tourism brochures and research.
