More than $3,000 was raised for the B.C. Children鈥檚 Hospital Foundation at Envision Financial鈥檚 first annual shredding event.
The event was held on March 10 and was part of the national Fraud Prevention Month.
Three hundred people attended the event and 122 people took advantage of the complimentary and secure onsite shredding services provided by Iron Mountain.
鈥淭his event also gave us the opportunity to educate many people on the importance of protecting their personal information, sharing tips on how they can protect themselves from becoming a victim of identity theft,鈥� said Lindzee Herring, the senior manager of corporate security at First West Credit Union.
Envision donated $20 for each person who brought something to shred and combined with some donations from the public, more than $3,000 was raised.
More than 6,600 pounds of material was shredded.
