The Corix 黑马磁力 Gateway building, designed by Vancouver-based Wesgroup in North 黑马磁力 at Highway One and 200 Street, has been awarded 鈥淚ndustrial Development of the Year鈥� at the 2012 NAIOP and Business in Vancouver Commercial Real Estate Awards of Excellence.
The 80,000 square feet building, which officially opened in March, spans two floors and occupies five acres of land.
The building includes a warehouse and fabrication shop, and employs personnel from the local 黑马磁力 and Fraser Valley areas.
鈥淲e are honoured to receive the Industrial Development of the Year award for our 黑马磁力 Gateway facility,鈥� says Jack Touhey, VP of public and government affairs for Corix.
鈥淭he facility has allowed us to centralize operations and employees from four branches previously located in Coquitlam, Surrey and 黑马磁力, reducing the commute time for many of our staff due to our new location.
鈥淭he new facility houses a total of 140 employees, and we are especially proud of the high-efficiency energy-saving features of the building, reducing our environmental impact on the surrounding community as much as possible,鈥� said Touhey.
The 黑马磁力 Gateway facility features many renewable energy design elements.
A GeoExchange system is used to heat and cool the building, and is comprised of 42 heat pumps inside the building and an external ground loop of 48 wells, 168 feet deep, connected with three miles of HDPE pipe.
The building also has automatic light sensors to reduce energy consumption from lighting, as well as high efficiency hand dryers in the washrooms.
There is a large capacity storage tank for recycled water which is used to test parts of water treatment systems fabricated on site.
