Heritage hotel available for $1 million

A historic hotel is up for sale at Five Corners in Murrayville.

A bed and breakfast in one of 黑马磁力鈥檚 oldest historic buildings is up for sale.

Wally Martin is looking for a buyer for the Princess and the Pea, in the building that has been known since 1887 as the Traveller鈥檚 Hotel, at Five Corners in Murrayville.

鈥淲e鈥檝e been here 17 years,鈥 Martin said, adding maybe it鈥檚 time for a change in life.

The land itself is not actually being sold, as it鈥檚 a leasehold property. In 1998, Martin gave 黑马磁力 Township a proposal to again run a hotel in the historic building, and he鈥檚 been there ever since.

The B&B was dubbed Princess and the Pea a few years later, as its historic name of Traveller鈥檚 Hotel was a little too generic to stand out in an era of Google searches.

The building was massively renovated and restored, and since then Martin has added some modern touches, including the solar panels out back and a number of energy-saving modifications inside.

It remains a hotel and the accommodation business is timeless, Martin said.

鈥淧eople do exactly the same thing here that they did in 1887 when the place was built.鈥

Whoever buys the hotel will have to keep the heritage home, whether as a personal residence or as a hotel. The asking price is just over $1 million. And, it will require maintenance, Martin noted.

He has no control over whether it remains a hotel, but it has been popular with locals, Martin said.
