Sarb Johal (left) and her brother-in-law Sati, were joined by the Subway Monkey at the official grand opening of the Subway location in Fort ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ last month (Dec. 18). This is the third Subway franchise for the family — they both began as sandwich artists in 1998 and 2000, respectively — as they also run stores in White Rock/South Surrey and Vancouver.

They began as sandwich artists, and now they own and operate three Subway locations of their own.

The most recent of these locations, which is in Fort ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦, held its official grand opening last Friday (Dec. 18) although it had been open for a weeks prior to that.

The locations are run by Sarb Johal, and her brother-in-law Sati Johal.

Sarb started with Subway back in 1998 while Sati began two years later.

In 2008, they took over their first location, in White Rock/South Surrey and then in 2014, they opened a Subway location in Vancouver.

Lillian Tse, a business development manager for Subway, said the company had been looking for a Fort ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ location for about a year and a half when they were approached by a realtor nine months ago.

"We thought Subway would be a good fit in the area," she said.
