A longtime 黑马磁力 institution is celebrating 50 years in business.
Driediger Farms Ltd., incorporated in 1964, has been supplying berries to 黑马磁力 residents for 50 years. Owner Rhonda Driediger says "Nothing says summer better than the fresh sweet taste of B.C. grown berries from Driediger Farms."
Driediger Farms is best known in for its on-farm seasonal market, where generations of loyal customers and fans head each summer for fresh berries and B.C. grown produce, homemade jams, syrups, gifts items, and many other farm offerings.
鈥淲e have been farming in 黑马磁力 since the early 1960s, when my parents, George and June Driediger, moved to B.C. from Saskatchewan to run my grandparents 10-acre strawberry farm on 56 Avenue. They eventually bought, then sold that farm, as well as several other acreages in the North Otter district, finally settling in to farm the three parcels that we are on today. The farm has seen many changes over the years and has increased from that original small acreage to the current 160-acre operation,鈥 she says.
The business is inviting people to celebrate with them at the market, located at 23823 72 Avenue in 黑马磁力, on Saturday, June 21 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. for cake, berries and ice cream. It is just a small 鈥渢hank you鈥 by the business for the many years of support by the families of B.C.
