While fall is in full swing, for the farmers who bring their produce to market every week in 黑马磁力, October is a time to wind down.
And, to mark the end of the growing season at the 黑马磁力 Community Farmers Market, manager Cherise McGee has introduced a new Fall Harvest Festival.
The festival is being held on Wednesday, Oct. 12, from noon to 4:30 p.m. at Kwantlen Polytechnic University鈥檚 黑马磁力 campus.
McGee described the new event is a way to 鈥渃elebrate a spectacular 2016 season.鈥�
鈥淚t鈥檚 one last opportunity for our vendors and customers to connect,鈥� she said. 鈥淥ur new Fall Harvest Festival will allow us to continue to foster those relationships and emphasize the hard work and talent of our artisans and vendors.鈥�
This event will showcase about 40 vendors who have been regulars at the market throughout the season.
It will also feature live music and food trucks serving up lunch. There鈥檚 a kids area with fun apple activities, and something a little special to celebrate this 鈥渄electable鈥� piece of fruit, McGee said.
鈥淔or those apple pie aficionados who want to put their skills to the ultimate test, there鈥檚 even an apple pie bake-off,鈥� McGee said.
The apple bake-off begins at 2 p.m. and features 10 customers and vendors bringing their best apple dessert dishes to the table to be judged.
The day will also include a closing ceremony at 4 p.m., where a dinner for four with Chef Adrian Beaty will be given away, followed by a mix-and-mingle potluck (anyone who brings a dish is invited to participate).
